If a baby's mattress gets dirty from soiling or spit up or a variety of other reasons and is never cleaned properly the first criteria for bacteria growth is met. If the mattress gets stored away in a dark closet or attic I think these would qualify as dark places so the second criteria for bacteria growth is met. There's always moisture in the air and when that gets into foam the foam retains the moisture then we have our third requirement for bacteria growth met. The new crib mattress will also be protected by the most current flammability safety standards. If you do buy a new baby mattress you will know the proper ways to clean and store it. If you do this properly the mattress and crib bumper will last you for several babies.

Crib sheets and light blankets are items your baby will not be able to live without. There are many different varieties of crib sheets and blankets available. Little baby's limbs can become stuck or wedged between the railings on a crib, and their small heads can press against the railing causing discomfort.
